Today Kaspersky Lab, a security development firm, announced that the first SMS based Trojan malware application has been detected on an Android smartphone. The Trojan is called Trojan-SMS.ANdroidOS.FakePlayer.a and it has already infected some phones. It's disguised as a media player application and prompts users to install a 13KB .APK file. It then sends SMS texts to premium numbers, resulting in high charges. To avoid being infected, Kaspersky Lab recommends paying close attention to application requests when installing new apps.
